Built Arlo Oven Mitt Review

I purchased two sets (oven mitt and pot holder) for my mother and significant other to replace their existing (cheap and worn) mitts. They both loved the ergonomics and appearance/styling of the neoprene and it fit their hands well. However, the matching pot holder is designed for medium to large female hands and did not fit my significant other's small hands well (tends to slide out of her hand).
I would give the oven mitt 5 stars, but the neoprene is NOT stable at 450+F (description says "up to 500F"). After regularly using the mitt for over a month, my significant other recently grabbed a cookie sheet in our [calibrated] oven at 450F and it slightly melted the neoprene side of the mitt. My recommendation is to avoid touching 400+F pans/sheets to the neoprene and only contact the rubber grip, which is 500F safe.

So the polka dots make for a cute oven mitt, but my primary concern was with heat resistance. On here, they claim it's resistant up to 500F. But when I went to move one of the metal racks in my 450F oven, the mitt started to melt in the areas where it had made contact with the metal rack and between 2 and 3 seconds after I gripped the rack, I could feel the heat burning my hand. Not impressed. Since then, I've used another mitt for moving the metal racks around. But this particular mitt seems to be okay (i.e. doesn't melt or burn my hand) when in contact with most other metal pans, french ovens, etc.
