(More customer reviews)I have a nickel trimmed wood stove and at first was shopping for a right angled brush set to pull the ashes into the hole that sits above the ash box. After seeing that this minor modification commanded an unjustified premium, I instead decided to price out sets that had nickel or brushed steel accents. I had almost given up in sticker shock when I found this set from Aiden's Hearth. Thinking that it probably had flaws to reveal when received, I went ahead and ordered. It is absolutely solid and heavy duty, and looks fantastic on the hearth pad. I will gladly use a hand brush inside the stove if necessary, because I want to keep this one looking new. It will still sweep the exterior just fine. The nickel rail around the base is solid, the handles are solid, there are no cheap shortcuts on this set and I can't recommend enough saving $100 or more with this product over similar sets that can't possibly be superior in workmanship. I'll quit now before I sound like a shill - just a very happy customer.

It broke in shipping. The shovel is very sturdy, not like the old one I bought. It is flimsy and about to brake. I am very pleased with the Woodfield Vintage, thank you very much Amazon.

(More customer reviews)This is one solid fireplace set! It's very heavy duty for it's size. We got this as a gift for a friend. He has a fireplace in his townhome, and the fireplace isn't that deep or wide, so this kit was perfect for him. Plus it looks great next to the fireplace... it's not too big, not too small.
Whether your style is modern or traditional, this set will work for you.
When I received the box, I was surprised at how small it was. But once you put the handles and tool ends onto it, it all comes together. When assembling, pay attention to the bags each bar comes in as they are labeled, as the bars are different lengths. If you don't pay attention, you will end up with a piece too long to hang on the stand.

The finish is excellent and welds look very strong. I used the tongs on some large maple logs and it handled them with ease. The stand is so strong that I think it would support my weight on each hook.

(More customer reviews)The initial set of tools delivered had the top of the tool stand broken (where the tools hang) off the upright. Contacted the seller and had a new set delivered with all pieces undamaged. The tools themselves are very solid and functional although they may be a tad large for most wood stoves . . . perhaps more of a true fireplace tool.
The only thing I wasn't very happy with was the quality of the welds holding the stand together. As I said, the first one had a broken top due to poor welds and the second, although not broken, could certainly have been welded better. For the price, I would have thought there would have been a little better quality control.
Aidens Hearth was great about getting the replacement tool set. I would definitely recommend the seller.

The tools are well designed and more functional than fireplace tools we've had previously (ie. the shape of the shovel and the bend of the brush). However, the set is quite small - standing only 25" at the highest point - and substantially smaller than other sets we've owned. So if you need a massive look or feel, this is not the set.

If the wood is wet or if its humid, just a few puffs of air and the embers are glowing, without flying about the room and scaring me half to death. It's so easy I can't believe it took me this long to try it! It is the perfect length and keeps you from getting too close to the flames. I recommend it highly to anyone who wants to get a fire going quickly and safely.

(More customer reviews)The quality of this item was disappointing. Originally listed at $500 and discounted to just over $100, this sort of pricing would imply a higher quality fireplace accessory. Unfortunately, this was not the case. A google search of this item offers up retailers selling it at approximately $85.
The frame of the piece was warped and difficult to assemble due to having been warped. I managed to do so after working on it for nearly an hour. Because the frame is uneven a shim is required to keep it still. Additionally, the directions included with this item were for a different version of this item.
While it looks nice, I'm guessing a better quality piece of furniture can be found elsewhere.

(More customer reviews)The set comes with a stand, hooked poker, tongs, shovel, and brush. It required a little bit of assembly, nothing too difficult. Basically it just needed the handles to be screwed into the grips. The one complaint I have is that the tongs should be a little wider to be able to grab pieces of wood or coal better. The ends are barely 3/4" wide, and wood often wobbles a bit when you pick it up, or coals and embers slip out of the grasp of the tongs sometimes. That's why I give this only 4 out of 5 stars. I actually got this more for my barbeque-grill outside, so I can move the charcoal around while it's burning, which it does a great job of too.

While the can and shovel are heavy/sturdy enough, the black paint applied to both doesn't hold up well to hot coals. When shoveling out the woodstove, the hot coals in the can blistered the paint and actually caused it to burn. The whole house smelled like burned paint and it took some time with a floor fan at the patio door to draw the smoke out of the house.
It might make more sense to have the can and shovel "blued" as they do with firearms, as opposed to painted.

(More customer reviews)I use these tools a lot. The stand seems a bit unsteady, however, we have it standing up on our hearth and my 2 children (ages 4 and 6) have poked at it and removed tools from it and it has never fallen over.
The tools themselves seem very well made. I really like the "log-grabber" which has 2 prongs on one side and 1 on the other. I have seen some sets where it only has 1 prong on each side; this design is much better and allows for steadier handling of the logs.
The tools work great, and the set looks nice.
